Data that conveys confidence and security: Global Dashboard

October 2021

After 14 months of the COVID-19 pandemic and now nearing the end, we in society are taking stock of the impact it has had on a personal and professional level. We have become accustomed to medical metrics, continuous changes, video calls and contingency plans. We companies have learned to pivot or reinforce our business model and reformulate our value proposition. The education system has been an example of implementing health measures in record time in a pedagogical framework. Workplaces and companies have had to focus on the health of their staff, the basic human capital of any business. And for this, metrics are also necessary.

We need a culture of well-being based on data. Data, among others, on the indoor air quality of the spaces we occupy; data that provides the information needed to control and adapt indoor environmental conditions to the well-being of its occupants.

The perception of well-being may seem subjective, but its promotion has a direct impact on the productivity of companies and their workforces. In fact, good indoor air quality improves behavior, increases the speed of task resolution, improves attention and concentration, and reduces absenteeism due to low severity medical leave (Source: The Healthy Homes Barometer 2019).

Ensuring reliable and traceable information is key. It is vital that this information is easily integrated and interpretable by the data manager.

It is as important to measure as it is to make the data visible and interpretable for the peace of mind of the users of the spaces - be it the students of an educational center, their families, the employees of an office building or those who manage the building. Thanks to the proper visualization of indoor air quality data, it is possible to control its evolution and facilitate communication and, in addition, it is possible to manage improvement actions, such as the optimization of the ventilation and/or air conditioning system to ensure minimum air renewal.

As we mentioned in a previous post, the basis of DCV systems is the control of indoor air quality and with it the improvement of health and comfort in indoor spaces, with greater energy efficiency of the systems.

The doubt arises when the need for data control and monitored spaces exceeds the capacity of the people responsible for this task. Either because it involves several monitored spaces in different locations (various classrooms on an educational campus, for example) or because the study of indoor air quality is incorporated from different levels of responsibility: user of the space, system or team responsible for acting on the improvement systems, or the building manager himself.

Is it operational to have more than 40, 80, 100 indoor air quality monitoring devices controlled at the same time? How do we do it?

inBiot is committed to working with its own data visualisation platform, developed to facilitate the interpretation of indoor air quality data. The experience and know-how accumulated in different projects allows us to adapt the visualisation needs. For this reason, in larger projects, our My inBiot platform is complemented with a global control panel adapted to the needs of each client, which allows the mapping of indoor air quality at all locations, a customised interface, the definition and management of alarms according to the desired ranges or the control and monitoring of all devices.

Global Control Panel

In this case, a customised interface has been developed for the Government of Navarre. The Educational Infrastructures Service has promoted the implementation of 700 MICA Lite indoor air quality devices, distributed throughout the public education network in Navarre. The use of this personalised global control panel allows all the devices to be controlled at a single glance. On the one hand, the evolution of indoor air quality is controlled from each centre in My inBiot, and on the other hand, the team promoting this project and the public entities involved can access the data visualisation in a personalised way and according to the requirements and ranges requested.

At inBiot we are committed to technological innovation as a tool to provide security in the promotion of healthy spaces. If you want to know more about our services and solutions, contact us.
